Buttonwood Campground – Mifflintown, PA

The morning we were due to drive from Grand Island, NY to Mifflintown, PA, we received a call from the campground that Hurricane Florence would be dropping a ton of rain on the campground. The site we had reserved was right by the lake and it was projected to rise 26 feet after all the rainfall which would mean our site would be under water…by ALOT. So they moved us higher and while it wasn’t the best site, it was dry and the campground was so beautiful we had little to complain about.

The first half of the drive was fantastic and dry and the second half was rainy and sketchy. We arrived at the campground in the dark and with pouring rain. One of the workers, Ryan, was gracious enough to guide us to our spot and even help us get backed in. We had no wine and since we knew there was a wine store on site we took a chance and asked Ryan if he could hook us up, and he did! The store was closed but he had keys to the storage shed 🙂

This park was REALLY beautiful and the wifi was fast enough that I didn’t use any data while staying here, and even streamed movies without any issues during the two weeks

While we were here we drove an hour to Hershey on Saturday to attend a HUGE RV show where we bought a new bed! Then came back on Sunday to hit Hershey Park. We had a blast on the rollercoasters!

On our last day we took off to do a hike and take in some history…

  1. Buttonwood was our very first campground about a decade ago. It’s a super place, with super people running it. I am so glad they took care of you. Great pictures! Give Winston a pat for me. He’s super cool. Milka, my basenji, even liked him a lot more than most other dogs,
